In the noughties, Shank was one of the most important musicians in these parts, following fantastic hits like “Julie”, “Salute”, “Ghetto” and more. That’s why it stings that his standout work on Sess‘ “Smooth Operator”, alongside Ladipoe, went largely unnoticed.
A few months ago, Sess dropped his fantastic debut album, Omo Muda, which featured stars like Simi, Mayorkun and more. While most of the songs were fantastic, one that really stood out was “Smooth Operator”, and that was due to its very gifted guest acts.
The Sess-produced banger soars by bringing together two stars from different eras, who still manage to work really well together. In his usual fashion, Ladipoe delivers stellar bars, while Shank handles the chorus and the bridge, reminiscent of his jams from the past.
