Yemi Alade has been adorning her Instagram posts with the hashtag #WOS for a while now. Now, halfway through the month, she has finally disclosed the meaning behind her ambiguous hashtag, telling fans to expect her fourth studio album, Woman of Steel, soon.
So far, 2019 has been pretty big for Yemi Alade. To kick off the year, she made history, as her 2014 hit song, “Johnny”, finally crossed 100 million views on YouTube — making her the first African female artist and the second African artist ever to achieve that feat.
Now, as she celebrates her Rick Ross-assisted “Oh My Gosh” remix crossing 2 million views in just two weeks, Yemi Alade uses this triumphant moment to get fans hyped up for the big release that is to come.
Although we’ve gotten a few posts and captions from the beloved singer that announce the project’s imminent release, Yemi Alade hasn’t given too much away. In her most forthcoming caption teasing the album, she simply says:
“#WOMANOFSTEEL – still I rise. My album is coming very soon”
We do know, however, that the project is set to drop this month of May, which is already packed full of exciting releases from Nigerian artists. It’s also been reported that the album will feature Angélique Kidjo, Duncan Mighty and Funke Akindele.
Until then, listen to Yemi Alade’s “Oh My Gosh” remix below:
