The ruling All Progressives Congress’s (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has postponed the party’s National Convention for March 26 at Eagle Square in Abuja.
The decision was made at the caretaker committee’s 20th regular meeting on Monday in Abuja.
Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Secretary of the CECPC, addressed the press after the nearly three-hour meeting, saying, “We have agreed and approved that activities for the party’s national convention will begin on February 24 and conclude on March 26 at Eagle Square with the National Convention.”
“In between the convention, we have agreed to have zonal congresses, and all the activities is hereby given as approved by the CECPC.”
Attempts to obtain further information on the convention were unsuccessful since the Secretary refused to provide any additional information.
He only gave reporters the program of events for the zone congresses and the national convention.
According to the timetable of operations for the zonal congresses and national convention established by Article 12.6 of the party’s Constitution, the zonal congresses will be held on March 12th, 2022, and the national convention on March 26th, 2022.
