It would be recalled that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had declared a sit-at-home today to commemorate the day security operatives invaded the home of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu at Afara, Umuahia in Abia state.

An eyewitness who did want his name in print said the incident which took place early hours of the day near the Ezigbo Filling Station caused panic among the residents in the community and passers-by.

He said the miscreants also moved to a neighbouring community, Ekwulobia and set some tyres on fire before the vanished.

He said that no security operative was sighted while the incident lasted.

Meanwhile, Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu while confirming the incident said that on 14/09/2021 at about 9:30hrs the command received a distress call on a case of Arson and malicious damage along Nanka/Oko road.

He said that police operatives are currently on ground and the situation is being monitored.

“Normalcy has also been restored in the area. The command and other security agencies have since intensify patrols & surveillance,” he said

According to him, preliminary investigation reveals that the attackers stop the tricycle and the commercial bus, chase occupants away and set the vehicle and tricycle on fire.

“Meanwhile no lost of life was recorded please,” Ikenga said.
