The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Yakubu Lado, in Katsina State have sent a petition to the Katsina State Governorship Election Petitions challenging the outcome of the governorship election in the state. The PDP candidate had sent in the petition to meet the deadline of April 1, 2019, for filing petitions at tribunal.

Gordy Uche, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), leading the team of lawyers for the plaintiff to file the suit, noted that his clients are challenging the victory and educational qualifications of the governor-elect, Aminu Masari of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He added that more expatriates are joining the team to consolidate the legal team when the hearing begins.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governorship candidate, State Chairman of the party, Salisu Majigiri, appealed to PDP supporters to be law abiding, requesting them to pray for the party to emerge victorious at the tribunal.

The PDP is challenging the governorship election, denoting Governor Masari of the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission as respondents before the Tribunal headed by Justice Kereng.
