The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun state, Hon. Soji Adagunodo has denied reports circulating on the social media that Senator Ademola Adeleke has received Certificate of Return As Governor of the state from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Recall that the Osun Governorship Election Tribunal had declared Adeleke true winner of the September 22 election in the state.
Few hours ago, a fake news broke out on the social media with picture that Adeleke had been handed certificate of return.
To this end, Adagunodo in a statement on Monday night dissociated Adeleke and the party from the viral reports asking people not to be misled.
The ststement reads in full: “We appreciate the people of Osun State and Nigerians for their concern on the governorship election in Osun on September 22nd and the recent judgment of the Election petition Tribunal.
“Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and our Party PDP believe in the rule of law and it’s process for him to become the governor of Osun State and this we are going to follow to the end until the usurper is removed from office.
“The picture below was taken in 2017 when Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke emerged as Senator in Osun West Senatorial rerun election, it has nothing to do with the governorship election.
We don’t want the public to be misled as the information has gone viral.”
