The chairman, Zamfara State Council of Chiefs and the Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmed has said that polygamous marriage was responsible for the falling standard of education in Nigeria.
Attahiru disclosed this during a meeting with seventeen emirs of the state and the chairman, Zamfara State Universal Education Board, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu Maradun in Gusau, the state capital.
The monarch cautioned Muslim Ummah to ensure that they give their children quality and quantitative education in western and Islamic education.
He also reiterated the traditional rulers’ support to Universal Basic Education Board in Zamfara State towards providing quality education to the people.
Speaking earlier, the Executive Chairman, Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu Maradun commended the traditional rulers for the support they are giving to the government and Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board.
Alhaji Maradun told the emirs that the purpose of the visit is to inform them of the forthcoming community mapping exercise.
He said enumerators would be assigned to take census in all nooks and crannies of the state to capture the information of all out-of-school children in order to have their Data.
