The Nigerian Communications Commissions, NCC, has fined four major network operators a total sum of N74 million for violating various regulations.
The NCC, in its 2018 third quarter compliance, monitoring report stated that the network providers flouted regulations such as the routing of a minimum of 10 per cent of interconnect traffic through interconnect exchange licensees and quality of service.
Other infractions are approval for promotions and advertisements, and SIM registration in a controlled environment.
They were fined for SIM registration infractions and unapproved promos, advertisements and failure to provide information on collapsed towers.
The reports stated that MTN was sanctioned N5 million, Airtel N20 million, Glo N30 million, and 9mobile N5 million.
