Ahmad Lawan, President of the 9th Senate, has denied endorsing the southwest for 2023 presidency.
There were reports at the weekend that the top lawmaker endorsed power shift to the Yoruba predominantly region.
Some party chieftains in the All Progressive Congress (APC) are of the opinion that the North must retain power beyond 2023 when the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari winds down.
While some of the members of the ruling party has kicked against the plot to retain power in the North, some individuals considered influential in the geo-political zone are backing the plot.
