Kwara State House of Assembly in its sitting on Wednesday, May 27 called the attention of the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration to make available screening materials at border communities in the state.
The House Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danladi Salihu, while reading the house resolution on Coronavirus disease yesterday praised the Kwara State COVID-19 technical committee for their commitment in curbing the spread of the global pandemic in the state.
Salihu, however, challenged the state government to double its effort in having a testing centre in the state.
The speaker’s suggestion received support from Honourable Saeed Popoola, while Honourable Abdullahi H. Danbaba seconded the move, Naija News learnt.
The House further encourage residents in the state to ensure total compliance to all safety protocols as given by the state government and health agencies as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19 in Kwara State.
On his part, Honourable Owolabi Abdulrazaq, the House Committee Chairman on health and environment, revealed that Governor Abdulrazaq had constituted a committee to battle COVID-19 in the interest of residents even before the state recorded its first death case.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Wednesday revealed that it has carried out 48,544 Coronavirus tests in the country, Naija News reports.
