The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday at 11:00 pm confirmed that 238 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Nigeria. This brings the total number of cases in the country to 2170.

Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder of Daar communications, alongside his daughter-in-law, and six other members of his family, have tested positive for Coronavirus. A test conducted by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC on the Dokpesi family came out positive for eight members of the family

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said that Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, might never actualize his presidential ambition, because of the North. Kanu warned that Tinubu was wasting his time as the North will frustrate his chances of becoming president.

Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned a 118- bed new Isolation Centre at Gbagada General Hospital. He said the facility was revamped over the past two months to accommodate patients who have contracted COVID-19. Governor Sanwo-Olu also stated that the facility has all the expectations of clinical care.

The Federal Government has declared that anyone without a face mask in public will be prosecuted. This is part of the new guidelines for the new phase of containment of COVID-19 from May 4 to May 17, 2020.

The former Speaker of the House of Representative, Ghali Umar Na’Abba, has revealed that he is alive contrary to the report that he is dead. Na’Abba personally debunked rumours making the rounds that he was dead.

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday in his message to mark International Workers Day, has assured that no employer would retrench workers without going through due process. He further stated that employer would have to go through social dialogue, which includes consultations with workers and with the competent authority, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
