Teenager kills mother in Cross River

A young man simply identified as Patrick killed his mother in Ugep in Yakurr govt local area of Cross River State on Saturday, The Nation gathered.

A source in the area said the young man, a 19-year old, believed to be a political thug had a machete in his hand and was in his way out, probably to cause violence, when his mother stopped him.

It was gathered that he got angry and attacked his mother with the machete he was holding and ran away.

The woman died from cuts sustained in the attack, it was gathered.

The source said the young man was however accosted by youths in the community, who brought the matter to the Paramount Ruler of Ugep.

At the moment of filing this report, the matter was still at the Paramount Ruler’s Palace in Ugep, it was learnt.

Efforts to get the police proved abortive as calls to the Police Public Relations Officer did not go through.
