From Rihanna incorporating South Africa’s gwara gwara in her Grammy performance last year, to Diggy Simmons relentlessly attempting to shaku, dance trends on this continent quickly become global phenomena.

Right from when visual media became a way of promoting music, Nigerian acts have been delivering weird and wonderful moves for us to try out — from Olu Maintain’s body rolling gang signs with the yahooze to Iyanya’s waist-twirling proficiency with the kukere.

The latest craze, zanku, which stands for ‘Zlatan Abeg No Kill Us’, is probably our favourite Nigerian dance step to date, although the competition is pretty tough. So, from the makossa to the shoki, which has been your favourite West African dance?
