British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was on Monday night moved into intensive care as his coronavirus case worsens.
He was moved into the ICU of St. Thomas Hospital as a precaution in case he requires a ventilator.
Earlier reports said the Prime Minister was on oxygen and that he was carrying on with the task of governing Britain.
Latest report said his coronavirus illness took a drastic turn for the worse on Monday evening, just about 24 hours after he was brought for tests.
Downing Street said 55 year-old Johnson is conscious and has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise for him.
Downing Street Statement:
“Since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.
“Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.
“The PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary.
“The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.”
