
A former staff of a Lagos-based private nursery school, Rukayat Amisu, has been remanded in prison by a Lagos High Court Igbosere for allegedly killing a three-year old girl negligently.
Amisu was arraigned before Justice Adedayo Akintoye, on one-count charge of manslaughter.
The Lagos State Prosecuting counsel, Mr. Babatunde Sunmonu, stated that the defendant committed the alleged offence on October 21, 2015, at 10a.m. at Olab Private School, 11, Idowu Street, Lagos Island.
The defendant unlawfully killed one Aliyah Ahmed by negligently allowing her to be burnt by hot water as she negligently sat the little girl on top of a container containing hot water. The girl accidentally fell inside the hot water.
The offence alleged to have been committed by the defendant contravened Section 227 of the Criminal Code, Law of Lagos State, 2011.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Her Counsel, Mr A. O. Ladipo, told the court that he has filed a bail application, for the court to consider the defendant for bail.
The presiding judge, Justice Adedayo Akintoye adjourned the case till March 11, 2019 for hearing of the bail application.
