The long-awaited football match between Abia Warriors and Enyimba of Aba turned bloody on Sunday as supporters club of both teams clashed which lead to an assault on the chairman of Enyimba FC, Felix Anyansi Agwu.
The crisis reportedly started in the 25th minute of the game when Abia Warriors were awarded a penalty but the player missed it and Enyimba supporters started jubilating.
This reportedly angered the other supporters and this led to violence.
In the chaos, the Enyimba chairman who was trying to intervene in the clash was pelted with stones which gave him serious injuries.
His head was reportedly broken when a big stone landed on his head.
He was rushed to Federal Medical Center, Umuahia where he is currently admitted and receiving treatment.
