South Korean movie “Parasite” made history at the 92nd Oscars Academy Awards, becoming the first non-English language film to win best picture.
Parasite which was directed by Bong Joon-ho also won best director, international film and original screenplay.
The darkly comedic thriller is the first South Korean film to ever be nominated for an Oscar and it was a surprising outcome at the 92nd Academy Awards on Saturday night, February 9, 2020.
The blockbuster war drama “1917” was second, as it won three Oscars, including best cinematography for Roger Deakins, during the three-and-a-half-hour ceremony at the Dolby Theater.
“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Ford v. Ferrari” similarly landed a pair of wins, as did “Joker”, taking the prizes for Best Actor (marking Joaquin Phoenix’s first win) and Score.
