Mercy Eke

After three months, in which a total of 26 individuals dwelled in the house, many were shocked when Mercy Eke popularly known as Mercy de Lamborghini emerged the winner of the 2019 ‘Pepper Dem’ edition of the reality TV show.

This year’s edition was filled with different shades of drama, fun and controversies.

Mercy no doubt was one of the most talked about housemate on the show. She was also the last woman standing among the BBNaija Pepper Dem housemates.

In no particular order, TheNewsGuru, TNG takes a look at three reasons why the Imo State University graduate won.

1. Fierce women support

Being the last woman standing was leverage for Mercy as this came to the fore during the voting. The female folks took it as an opportunity to rally round one of their own and give her a sisterly support. We all know that when women are passionate about a cause, they give their best shot.

2. Celebrity influence

Have you ever noticed how you seem to be more interested in a commercial advertisement with a celebrity you admire?

Why are you bothered about Jaruma’s favourite housemate? Or Rita Dominic’s favourite’s housemate? It is because celebrities have a huge influence on pop culture.

3. Controversy

Humans are drawn to controversy and Mercy served loads of it on the show. In the Nigerian parlance she ‘Pepper Dem’.

From being issued several strikes to stating that she once dated a footballer, not forgetting when she revealed that she went to the BBNaija house with a vibrator, Mercy sure got her fans attention with her ‘drama’.

The more drama she elicited, the more attention she got. Perhaps, this must have been one of her winning formulas. People gravitate towards controversies. This must have contributed to her win.
