Sadio Mane

Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane, became the first African to score twice in a UEFA Super Cup game.

Mane netted a brace against Chelsea in the 2019 edition, played at the Vodafone Park, Istanbul on Wednesday.

Earlier, the 27-year-old joined Frederic Kanoute in the revered ranks of Africans who have scored a goal in the Super Cup, following his second-half equaliser.

Kanoute was the first African to score a goal in UEFA’s Super Cup, when Sevilla thrashed 3-0 Barcelona at Stade Louis II in Monaco.

Mane’s two goals also made him the second-highest scoring Premier League player, after Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.
