A former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Maharazu Ismail Tsiga (retd), on Monday hailed the incumbent NYSC boss, Brig.-Gen. Shaibu Ibrahim, for re-establishing area offices for the scheme.
He said the scheme’s workers would benefit immensely from it.
Tsiga spoke when the Katsina State NYSC Coordinator Ahidjo Yahaya paid him a Sallah homage during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in his home town of Tsiga.
The former director general stressed that he was happy when he heard that the new administration had revisited the formation or the re-establishment of area offices.
He described the move as the best step in the right direction.

The ex-DG expressed disappointment about the earlier decision to disband the area offices, saying he fought hard to establish them but that they were cancelled after he left office.
Tsiga said: “We struggled for the establishment of the area offices to create room for more promotions to enable the workers get to the peak of their career before retirement and not to punish anybody, as speculated by some people.”
He called for more sustainable synergy among NYSC workers to further strengthen the scheme.
The former director general and his grand-children jointly received their visitors in the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He thanked Ahidjo for the visit and advised him to be thankful to the Almighty God for being selected and posted to a leadership position in the state NYSC.
Tsiga maintained that leadership was not what an individual gets but what the leader has is able to achieve to affect the future of the workers of his organisation.
The ex-DG advised Ahidjo to work closely with the workers, if he wants to succeed.
