A few months ago, we reported that Nigerian-American actress, Uzo Aduba, best known for her Emmy-winning work in Orange Is The New Black, will be playing Shirley Chisholm in the upcoming FX series, Mrs. America. Now, we’ve gotten our first look at her in the iconic role.

Shirley Chisholm is known for making history as America’s first black congresswoman, as well as the first black woman to run for president. She is one of the many feminist icons that the series, based on the fight for passage of the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment), will focus on.

Set in the ’70s, Mrs. America will tell the history-making story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the unexpected backlash led by a conservative woman named Phyllis Schlafly (played by Oscar-winning actress, Cate Blanchett).

Helmed by Captain Marvel‘s Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the nine-part limited series will also star Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids), Margo Martindale (The Americans), Tracey Ullman(Into The Woods), Elizabeth Banks (Hunger Games) and John Slattery (Mad Men).

Mrs. America is already filming and will air in 2020.
