2019 is really Burna Boy‘s year, as he seems to keep gaining more attention and acclaim with each passing day. Following the release of African Giant — which debuted on the UK and US charts — the afro-fusion star has now appeared on Billboard‘s ‘Emerging Artists‘ chart, alongside Davido.
Capturing the hottest 50 breakout stars that are primed to make it big in the US, Billboard‘s ‘Emerging Artists’ chart measures each artists’ success across their most influential charts, such as the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 — where Burna Boy just made his debut.
Given Burna Boy’s triumph on the Billboard 200, not to mention the far-reaching success of African Giant in itself, it is no surprise that he now features on the ‘Emerging Artists’ chart. Coming in at 49, we’re confident that he will spend a few weeks rising through the chart.
Burna Boy joins Davido as the second Nigerian on the chart. Having spent a total of 15 weeks on the chart, peaking at 24, Davido recently re-entered at no. 42, thanks, we are guessing, to the success of his Chris Brown-assisted effort, “Blow My Mind”. It’s great to see Nigerian thriving globally.
