Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha has awarded scholarships to Ugboajah Stephnie and Alozie Chukwuemeka, the two best-performing students in the 2019 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), both of whom hail from the state.
KanyiDaily had reported about an outstanding 16-year-old girl called Ugboaja Chizobam Stephany who scored all As in the 2019 WAEC examination.
This young, intelligent girl alongside another bright male student, Alozie Chukwuemeka Favour, who also scored all As in his WAEC subjects, have been awarded full academic scholarships to study in any university within the country by Imo state governor Emeka Ihedioha.
The duo who came first and second in the just concluded WASSCE were awarded these scholarships during their visit to the governor who received them at the government house in Owerri.
At the gathering, the governor commended the young indigenes of Imo for doing the state proud. He said:
“We are proud of the honour you have done our state. We are known for academic brilliance and in encouraging you, we have awarded scholarship to any university of your choice within the country.”
Governor Ihedioha also added that his administration would continue to reward excellence and promote academic competition.
