Thanks to her acclaimed EP, Sugarcane, Tiwa Savage had a pretty strong 2017. As well as her own hit songs, she also stole the show on tracks like Ladipoe’s “Are You Down” and Reekado Banks‘ “Like”. Unfortunately, her equally solid work on Pepenazi‘s “Ase” went largely unnoticed.
Over the uplifting Masterkraft-produced beat, Pepenazi sings about all of his hard work paying off, thanking God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon him. He also uses the track to show immense gratitude for the fact that he has been able to level up in life.
With Pepenazi taking the chorus and first verse, we are only introduced to Tiwa Savage on the closing verse, but she still makes a strong impression. Reiterating Pepenazi’s message, Tiwa Savage professes that God is always there for her, as she sings of her love for Him.
Directed by Frizzle N Bizzle, the video for “Ase” shows both artists performing the bubbly track, with a few notable lyrics playfully flying across the screen. As the producer, Masterkraft also makes an appearance in the clip, gleefully dancing along to his excellent production.
