Last year, David Oyelowo announced that he will be starring in his first horror film, Relive, produced by Get Out‘s Jason Blum. Following its Sundance premiere, the name of the film has been changed to Don’t Let Go, and it’s gotten a release date and an official trailer.
Don’t Let Go follows Jack Radcliffe (Oyelowo), a Los Angeles detective whose entire family dies in what appears to be a murder. Following this, he gets a phone call from one of the dead, his niece (Storm Reid), and becomes unsure of whether he’s hallucinating or not.
The film focuses on his pursuit to understand and eventually prevent the chain of events that led to the death of his niece and her parents. The first full-length trailer hints at these characters’ manic struggle to try and solve the murder across different timelines.
Directed by Jason Aaron Estes, and starring Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2) and Mykelti Williamson (Fences), Don’t Let Go has been described by critics as “supsensful”, “engaging” and “a pressure cooker for some strong performers”
Don’t Let Go is set to hit theatres on August 30.
