Comoros has leapfrogged Ghana to take the top spot in Group I of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This follows Comoros’ 2-0 victory over Chad on Tuesday evening

Comoros faced bottom side Chad at the Municipal Stadium of Oujda in a Round 4 fixture of Group I.

Although no goal was scored in the first half, the visiting side managed to score two goals in the second half.

Myziane Maolida scored in the 59th minute to break the deadlock of the contest before a strike by El Fardou Ben doubled the lead for Comoros.

Following the 2-0 win, Comoros has gone above Ghana in the Group I standings as a result of a superior goal difference and head-to-head.

The Black Stars of Ghana are now second on the Group I table but on same points [9] with the leaders.
