The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has extended administrative bail to controversial transgender, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
KanyiDaily recalls that Bobrisky was arrested on Wednesday evening, April 3, and has since been detained at the EFCC’s Lagos Command.
The EFCC paraded Bobrisky on Thursday by sharing photos of him in their custody and a statement confirming his arrest over alleged abuse of naira notes and currency mutilation.
In the statement, EFCC revealed that Bobrisky was summoned following reports of him publicly spraying and displaying new naira notes at the premiere of “Ajakaju: Beast of Two Worlds,” a film produced by actress Eniola Ajao.
Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed to TheCable Lifestyle that Bobrisky has been granted bail, but she has yet to fulfill the conditions.
“Yes. He has been granted administrative bail. Normally when you take in a suspect lawfully, there are some thresholds as to the number of days he can be held in custody,” Oyewale said.
“So, we are only complying with the law. We have offered him administrative bail. He has not met the bail conditions. If he meets the bail conditions today he will go home.”
Bobrisky’s arrest comes a few days after he sparked reactions online following his presence at Ikeja Mall cinema for a meet and greet event associated with the movie ‘Ajakaju’.
