The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has shed light on the reasons why they refrain from arresting people like Bobrisky and other crossdressers across the nation.

During an interview on Channels TV on Tuesday, the police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed the complexity surrounding such cases, emphasizing that cross-dressing currently lacks legal grounds for prosecution in Nigeria.
Adejobi clarified that despite suspicions linking cross-dressers to the LGBTQ community, there is no sufficient concrete evidence to support such claims, thus impeding any legal action against them.
He further elaborated on the challenge posed by allegations associating cross-dressers with other illicit activities, stressing the necessity of substantial proof to validate such claims before legal proceedings can be initiated.
“There are some cases that are always very difficult to prove. I’m not ruling out that we have many of them. Let us be reasonable, you can’t have someone you want to prosecute without having credible evidences against them. I have not read anywhere where crossdressing is an offence in Nigeria,” Adejobi said.
“Some of them that are into crossdressing, the allegation is that they are into something else. That’s where the problem lies. We need to have enough proof, credible evidence to prove that they are actually into that. All those offences are natural offences in Nigeria and they are punishable under our laws”.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi’s statement coincides with ongoing discussions within Nigeria regarding the ethical implications of peole like Bobrisky, especially following his recent recognition as the best-dressed female at a movie premiere by Eniola Ajao.
