Cristiano Ronaldo will not play in a crucial upcoming game as head coach Roberto Martinez makes changes to his squad.
Ronaldo will sit out Portugal’s friendly match against Sweden as Martinez opted for squad rotation.
Initially named in Martinez’s 32-man squad for the game, Ronaldo has been omitted, alongside Diogo Dalot, Joao Cancelo, Danilo Pereira, Otavio, Ruben Neves, Vitinha, and Joao Felix.
According to ESPN, these players have been given a break for the friendly fixture.
Ronaldo, who is currently enjoying a vacation with his family in Saudi Arabia, has been granted some rest time, taking advantage of the pause in the Saudi Pro League during the international break.
Having played the full 90 minutes for Al-Nassr on Saturday, the 39-year-old forward will benefit from some much-needed rest before gearing up for another demanding summer ahead.
