Former President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed his condolences over the death of a former governor of Yobe State, Bukar Ibrahim.
Buhari’s condolence message was contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Sunday.
The statement read, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim. I convey my deepest condolences to the family he left behind, and to the government and people of Yobe State.
“With his death, I have lost a friend whom I knew for decades, a political associate who shared my views on many issues. His insights and nuanced understanding of the people he governed had no parallels. May Allah forgive his shortcomings,” said the former President.”
Ibrahim died at 73 on Sunday in Saudi Arabia after a protracted illness.
He was the governor of Yobe State from May 1999 to May 2007.
He was also the senator for the Yobe East constituency in 2007.
