Gunmen abduct former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Onje Gye-Wado

A former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the development in a statement on April 7.

Prof. Gye-Wado was deputy to the incumbent national chairman of the APC. Senator Abdullahi Adamu, when the latter was governor of the State between 1999 to 2003.

In the statement, the PPRO said the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Muhammed-Baba, has deployed tactical operatives to rescue the former deputy operation.

He said that the police received reports that the former deputy was kidnapped by gunmen in the early hours of Friday at his residence in Wamba LGA of the state.

“Information received by the police command indicated that on April 7 at about 12:30 a.m., gunmen invaded Gwagi Village in Wamba LGA, broke into the residence of the former deputy governor and abducted him to an unknown destination.
