Ogun State Police Command has arrested a controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable.
It was gathered that Portable was arrested on Friday, March 31, following the expiration of the 72-hour ultimatum given to him to honour the police invitation.
KanyiDaily recalls that Portable was seen in a video resisting attempts by the police to arrest him and also referred to himself as “a federal government liability”.
The singer claimed that an internet fraudster had brought the police to his bar to arrest staff members “for no reason”, but the police noted that it acted on a petition.
Portable’s actions have since been condemned by the police authorities with the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, saying the singer exhibited irrational behavior and hurled insults at police officers carrying out their legal duty.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ogun state police spokesperson, said the singer is currently detained at the state headquarters of the police in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
“Yes. He was arrested today. Just this evening,” the police spokesperson told TheCable Lifestyle.
Oyeyemi further said Portable was arrested after refusing five invitations.
It was also gathered that the singer will remain in police custody till Monday when he will be charged in court after three days in detention.
Portable’s arrest comes a few hours after he claimed that the streets have taught him more than any classroom, noting that he is the smartest among his peers and his future is in God’s hands.
