Controversial Kenyan author and activist, Binyavanga Wainaina, is dead.
The famous Kenyan author, gay rights activist, winner of the 2002 Caine Prize, took his last breathe on Tuesday May 21 at 10PM after a long fight with stroke, the Nairobi-based literary magazine publication, Kwani, which he founded, announced.
Wainana is known for declaring that he was HIV+ back in December 2016.
The viral author who first suffered stroke in 2016 was preparing to do a homosexual documentary and had been urging Kenyans to come out and speak more on the hot topic during the shoot of the film.
Wainaina had won the Caine Prize for African Writing for his short story Discovering Home in 2002.
