A few weeks ago, Skepta announced his upcoming album, Ignorance Is Bliss, which will be available later this month. Now, to whet our appetites, the British-Nigerian rapper has released the impending project’s first single, “Bullet From A Gun“, and it’s quite powerful.
It’s no secret that Skepta is an amazing songwriter — a fact he’s proven on previous hits like the Wizkid-aided “Bad Energy” and “Pure Water”. This is the exact same energy he brings to “Bullet From A Gun”, as his flow and penmanship are impeccable from start to finish.
On the self-produced track, which preaches perseverance through hard times, Skepta pensively touches on several subjects, including his daughter, his relationship with supermodels, finding confidence in his Nigerian lineage and his relationship with his father.
While the pensive “Bullet From A Gun” is a pretty solid reminder of Skepta’s considerable talents as a rapper, it’s also a pretty tough listen. Honestly, we hope his upcoming album, which is set to drop on May 31, includes some lighter, more party-friendly tracks.
Until then, check out the new song right here:
