The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the death of the state’s Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Rabe Nasir, who was assassinated at his residence in the metropolis.

The Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, who made the confirmation, said the deceased was assassinated on Wednesday night in his room and his dead body was discovered on Thursday.

CP Buba further explained that an investigation has since commenced, and one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A source close to the slain commissioner’s residence at Fatima Shema Housing Estate in Katsina said: “The body was found when one of the deceased cooks went to Dr Nasir block and knocked without any response. After noticing signs of blood he raised an alarm.

“The cook quickly informed the commissioner’s police orderly who rushed there and discovered that the commissioner’s remains were locked inside toilet in the deceased’s bedroom.”

The state governor Aminu Bello who rushed to the deceased residence told the police to dig deeper and find the perpetrators.

Late Dr Nasir graduated from the University of Abuja, University of Kansas Lawrence, Bayero University Kano, and Government Secondary School Giwa, Kaduna State.

He worked with the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) before venturing into politics.
