Five members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were killed by the Nigerian Army in the Arochukwu area of Abia State’s Arochukwu Local Government Area.

The IPOB members were murdered on Thursday, according to a source, following a gunfight with soldiers near the community’s monarch’s palace.

He claimed IPOB members were enforcing the sit-at-home order they proclaimed in protest of Nnamdi Kanu’s unjust imprisonment.

The pro-Biafra agitators, according to the source, flocked to the streets to celebrate the news that their leader had been arrested and taken to court.

He went on to say that IPOB members, who were equally overjoyed that Kanu was alive, contrary to rumours to the contrary, marched in the streets.

When the IPOB members arrived near the town’s First Bank axis, they engaged the soldiers in a gunfight, but five of them surrendered to the military’ superior firepower.

He claimed that the gunfire caused chaos in Arochukwu, forcing inhabitants to flee into surrounding bushes for safety.
