Since the release of his magnum opus, Outside, Burna Boy‘s career has been on a steady rise. That increased popularity has now led to the pinnacle of his musical journey: His debut Coachella performance, which he closed out with his iconic jam, “Ye“.
We’re not sure Burna Boy knew what a gem he had on his hands when he released “Ye”. Not only does the song soar due to his fantastic delivery, but it also benefits from having one of most essential lyrics of the past decade, “I can’t come and kill myself” — a wholly relatable sentiment.
Well, he gave his audience a chance to express this universal frustration at Coachella, where he closed out his performance with the career-defining hit, after performing a bunch of other bangers in his impressive discography, including “Killing Dem”, “Soke” and more.
We’re glad that Burna Boy and Mr Eazi made it to California and were able to represent Nigeria at one of the biggest music festivals in the world. Hopefully, a lot more of our artists will be included in next year’s lineup, and our sound is taken even further around the world.
