The family of IPOB‘s leader Nnamdi Kanu and the group clashed over a sit-at-home order that became unpopular across the southeast, with the Kanus suing for retraction.

The National Daily reported how the family claimed their stance was in sympathy with secondary school children writing NECO in the region.

IPOB’s spokesman Emmanuel Powerful initially dismissed the family position, saying the groups doesn’t belong to Kanu’s family.

While the enforcement of the order succeeded partially on August 9, with close to a dozen militants and citizens dead, the group now strategizes fresh.

“I wish to announce this very evening, that as directed by the highest command of this noble movement, our Monday Ghost Town or sit-at-home in Biafra land, stands suspended for now,” said Chika Edoziem, who claims to be Biafra head of Directorate of States, why speaking on Radio Biafra.

“The weekly sit-at-home stands suspended, which means in the coming Monday, there will be no Ghost Town in Biafraland.

“Our sit-at-home will be on each court date when our leader, Onye Ndu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be appearing in court.”

The secessionist group is clamoring for the release of Kanu bundled in from Kenya in July, after jumping bail during his terrorism trial in 2017.
