Amina Mohammed, a former Minister of Environment under President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that his re-election victory over the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, was a “Miracle.”

Buhari had defeated Atiku with over four million votes in the concluded 2019 presidential poll.

However, speaking during an interview with Mo Ibrahim, the former minister, who is currently the United Nations’ Deputy Secretary-General, said:

“I think the fact that we got president Buhari in office this time was somewhat of a miracle, really, it is not easy to do it straight and narrow.

“I think this is a work in progress, democracy in my country is a work in progress, it is incredibly difficult, and that is why I believe that I’d make a really good campaign manager for the next woman president.”

The 57-year-old also said there was no glass ceiling in the Nigerian political space, noting that instead of that “there is a concrete one”.
