The Nigerian Senate put a N895.842 billion supplementary budget into law on Wednesday.
Senator Jibrin Barau, the Senate Committee Chairman on Appropriations, gave a positive report in which he indicated that the additional budget will help various government departments fulfill their tasks.
Security services will be authorized to obtain weaponry and equipment, according to Barau, as they work to battle insecurity around the country.
He said: “That the Senate do consider the report of the Committee on Appropriation on the supplementary Appropriation bill, 2021.”
Following the report, Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, examined the Bill clause by clause in the Committee of the Whole and passed it.
In his speech, Lawan urged government agencies to use funds for the purposes for which they were intended, while also expressing optimism that the story of insecurity will change now that sufficient funds have been appropriated.
