Just a month ago, Imoh Umoren released a trailer for his upcoming film, Dear Bayo. Clearly, 2019 is going to be a really big year for the acclaimed filmmaker, as he’s now released a trailer for another film, Lagos; Sex, Lies & Traffic, and it looks pretty darn good.
The filmmaker is known for gracefully tackling social issues. The AMVCA-nominated Children Of Mud was dedicated to homeless kids; Questions, a satirical short film, focused on the stupidity of blaming victims of assault; and Dear Bayo follows a young girl raised in an abusive family.
Made for M-Net, Lagos; Sex, Lies, and Traffic tells the story of the poster boy of politics in Lagos, Dejo, whose affair poses a threat to his political ambition and his marriage. After discovering his mistress is pregnant, Dejo’s wife, Tolu decides to get rid of her to avoid a scandal.
It’s also particularly important to note that he also tackles the #ENDSARS campaign, which is very fitting to the time, as their resurgence has recently caused unrest. While there is no information about the film’s release date, we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for it on M-Net.
