President Muhammadu Buhari has proclaimed a work-free day for personnel of the Armed Forces on Monday, May 24, 2021, in honor of the departed military officers, notably the late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru.
This was contained in a statement given to a report on Sunday night by the Secretary of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
In honor of the late COAS and others who died in a plane crash in Kaduna on Friday, May 21st, he also suggested that the national flag be flown at half mast.
“From Monday, May 24, to Wednesday, May 26, 2021, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved that the National Flag be flown at half-mast in all public buildings, facilities, and official homes.”
The statement stated, “This approval is to honor the memories and services of the Late Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahinu, and 10 top military and service members who died in the plane crash on Friday, May 21, 2021.”
