Buhari meets Okonjo-Iweala

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with the newly appointed Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Former Nigeria’s Finance minister and coordinating minister of the economy, arrived in the country on Saturday on a five-day working visit, two weeks after she assumed leadership of the global body.

In her delegation are the ministers of Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama, and minister of state Industry, Trade and Investment, Maryam Katagum.

She will later address the media after the visit.

Her visit to the country is designed to enable her to appreciate the support of the federal government towards her emergence.

The WTO boss speaking to newsmen stated, “I felt I had to come to Nigeria first, to say thank you, to Mr President; to thank him for his nomination and his support, he signed so many letters, he talked to so many people.”

“I want to say a special thank you to young people in Nigeria. They were on social media sending so many encouraging videos.”

Improving Nigeria’s share of global trade, Developing Nigeria’s Services sector, Covid-19, Attracting investment; training & capacity building, Safe Schools are some of the issues she will be discussing with the President.
