Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has recounted the night he will never forget in his life.

According to him, that night was in Ibadan, on January 15, 1966 when the first military coup took place in Nigeria.

He said that night, soldiers came to their house, the Old Governors Lodge in Ibadan, to arrest and abduct his father, Chief Remi Fani-Kayode.

Fani-Kayode, who is in Oyo State to tour and assess projects executed by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, said “I lived here years ago from the age of 4 to 6 when my father was Deputy Premier of the Old Western Region.

“As a matter of fact, I am staying in Govt. House, in the old Governors lodge on the hill overlooking the city, right next to where we used to live when he was Deputy Premier.

“This brings back so many memories and particularly that of the night of January 15th 1966 when the first coup took place and soldiers came to our house to arrest and abduct my father.

“What a night of horror that was! I shall never forget it. I have had a great time here over the last few days and some much needed rest. The tour of the state is going well and we will see more projects, sites and industries in Oyo State tomorrow.

“We will visit Ogbomosho, Oyo and other great ancient towns in this state before rounding up. I love being home in the South West and I really have missed my people. Nowhere like home.”
