Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi has explained that he reacted with a disrespectful act holding his nose in a stand-off with Rennes’ Hamari Traore, because the Malian defender abused him and his mother reports Completesports.com.

Iwobi who came on as a 70th minute substitute for Arsenal who defeated 3-0 in the second leg round of 16 clash at the Emirates was caught
appearing to tell Traore his breath smells as Arsenal cruised into the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday.

The 22-year-old Nigerian international told Completesports.com source exclusively that Traore cursed him and his mother while his team were coasted home to a resounding win.

“The guy was fouling me and cursing me and my mum, he was even putting his middle finger up,” Iwobi told Completesports source when he was asked to reach out and apologize for his childish act.

“They won’t catch that or say something about that but they will quickly say something to me, I am sorry but I am not apologizing.”

Meanwhile, Iwobi celebrated Arsenal’s qualification to the quarter-finals of the Europa League on his Twitter handle.

The Gunners were drawn to face Napoli in the quarter-final of the competition.

“Barging Into The Next Round Like,” he wrote on Twitter.

Iwobi is expected in the Super Eagles camp next week ahead of Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Seychelles and Egypt in Asaba, Delta State.
