Bundesliga side Schalke are prepared to launch a bid to sign Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi this summer from his parent club Liverpool, reports Completesports.com.

Awoniyi joined Liverpool in August 2015 but has been sent out on loan to FSV Frankfurt in Germany, Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, KAA Gent and Royal Excel Mouscron (twice).

The 21-year-old has been in a rich vein of form for Belgian side Mouscron scoring six goals and two assists in seven appearances for the Jupiler Pro League club he rejoined as loanee in January.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Schalke are monitoring the player’s progress and have contacted Liverpool regarding making a permanent transfer for the former Nigerian youth international in the summer.
