Nigerian-born Horoya AC of Guinea forward, Bolaji Sakin, has told Enyimba not to waste their resources coming to Conakry on Sunday for the return leg of their 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup quarter final fixtures, Completesports.com reports.

Sakin, who featured for Abia Warriors and Rivers United before a move to Horoya AC, was outstanding as the Guineans forced the People’s Elephant to a 1-1 draw in the first leg match in Aba.

He was deployed to the left-wing role by coach Lamin Ndiaye just to stifle Enyimba captain, Andrew Abalogu’s overlapping runs to add more bite to his team’s attack.

And the bearded forward carried out coach Ndiaye’s match plan to the detail, giving his side advantage of an away goal going into the reverse fixture.

After the grueling clash, a relaxed Sakin said they actually came to Aba for a win, adding that Enyimba were lucky to have escaped defeat.

“Our plan was to come here (Aba) and win. We respect Enyimba because of their pedigree in Nigeria and Africa but we knew they will in no way beat us,” Sakin said Completesports.com.

“We came here confident of winning but 1-1 draw is not a bad result for us.

“Yes, we weren’t too efficient in the first half. It was due to the heat and partly our game plan to see what Enyimba have in stock.

“But talking about the return leg match, it will be tough but then, surely Enyimba will be beaten by at least 2-0.

“It is not important for them to spend their money coming because they have reached the end of the road as far as the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup is concerned.”

In the last three seasons, Horoya have reached the last eight of the CAF Confederation Cup and a win against Enyimba in Conakry on Sunday will see them break their quarter-final hoodoo.
