Mother of Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu has been released by kidnappers who held her captive for six days, Completesports.com reports.
Ozuruonye Juliet Kalu was abducted in Abia State, South East Nigeria last week Wednesday in company of some of her children.
She was driving with some of her children along the Okpulu Umuobo area of Aba when the unidentified gunmen blocked her vehicle, ordered the children out of the car and took her away.
The kidnappers initially demanded for a ransom of N3m but declined to release Mrs Kalu after the money was doled out to them, insisting on another payment of N50m.
Completesports.com learnt she was released to her family at around midnight on Monday.
It is believed another payment was made to the kidnappers before her release.
The kidnappers are however still at large with the Abia Police Command working round the clock to bring them to book.
Kalu is expected to feature for French club Girondins Bordeaux in today’s (Tuesday) Ligue 1 clash against Montpellier.
The talented winger was on Monday named by Nigeria’s head coach Gernot Rohr in his squad for this month’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Seychelles and international friendly match versus Pharaohs of Egypt.
