2025 AFCONQ: Benin Republic Hold First Training Monday Morning

The Cheetahs of Benin Republic held their first training today (Monday), ahead of Saturday’s 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.

In a post on Joueurs Beninois, 17 out of the 25 players invited by head coach Gernot Rohr took part in the session Sofitel Hotel Ivoire.

Expected to join camp today are Olivier Verdon, David Kiki, Cedric Hountondji, Steve Warren Traore and captain Steve Mounie.

The trio of Jodel Doussou, Sessi d’Almeida and Mariano Ahouangbo will join their teammates on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Meanwhile nine Super Eagles players have arrived Uyo ahead of the double header qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Currently in camp are William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Olisa Ndah, Taiwo Awoniyi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Wilfred Ndidi and Amas Obasogie.

Benin Republic will go into the game against the Eagles on the back of a 2-1 win when both teams met in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
