The Nigerian duo of attackers, Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella are set to emulate compatriots, Sunday Oliseh and Pascal Ojigwe, in winning the German Bundesliga title.
Following Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win over FC Cologne on Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen need a win to become Bundesliga champions as they host Werder Bremen at the BayArena today (Sunday).
However, Boniface and Tella will be the third and fourth Nigerians to achieve the feat of winning the German top-flight title after the duo of the retired Oliseh and Ojigwe.

Oliseh won the Bundesliga title with Borussia Dortmund during the 2001–02 season. Ojigwe was a German league winner during his days as a Kaiserslautern player back in 1997/98.
He, however, played a few matches but was given a medal. Ojigwe may be one of the more unheralded players on this list but he is nevertheless more than worthy of his place on it.
Making use of strength and energy as well as an admirable composure, Oliseh often dominated the midfield as Dortmund romped to a Bundeliga title and a UEFA Cup back in the year 2002.
Several players in the Bundesliga are known for their ferocious shooting and now-retired Nigerian defensive midfielder, Oliseh may just be the pick of the bunch in that department.
Boniface, meanwhile, has 17 goals and eight assists in 26 games in all competitions for Die Werkself this term while Tella has hit the net seven times and made four assists in 33 games.
